1/5/2024 0 Comments Songkong sucksI echo the other people’s comments: Picard is very good, but my experience is that with Picard, as with many other pieces of software, it’s always wise to save work yourself a few times an hour, or do your work in small enough batches that you limit how much work you can lose between saves. I came to save all my changes and disaster - Picard crashed with a spinning beachball.… I spent the best part of 12 hours using Picard to sort out my files. I decided to tidy up my library, 6000 or so FLAC files. Also, I am aware that v2.0 is still in development - might it be possible that this will operate a little more robustly? I suspect that this is not a simple fix and am reluctant to raise a new ticket given the current backlog. If they already have MBIDs and it is just a retagging exercise, however, then Picard ought not to complain. Even assuming they are all in the MusicBrainz database, some human review will be required afterwards, so some smaller chunking would make the task easier. That said, one should ask why load even 5,000 tracks in one go? If they are only scantily tagged and the hope is that Picard will fix them, then that is a bit optimistic. Picard is a great program (and free) but the random nature of this problem is its most irritating feature and puts off a good many new users who might otherwise become useful contributors to the MusicBrainz community. Frequently, it is not a crash, but just a (longish) temporary non-responsiveness, which may be reduced by increasing the priority of the process. The cause of the lock-ups/hangs has not been explained. Seems pretty vague to me and not addressing the underlying problem. We should have some sort of alert for these when someone tries to load more than 5k or 10k files in one go A ticket that saysįairly often we get messages from users like “I loaded 50k files on Picard and it’s going very slowly”. 50,000 maybe, but Picard ought not to lock up at just 5000. It doesn’t seem right to me that 5000 files should cause a problem.

Edit: SpectraCal seems to have removed this table that said that the C6 was 5 times faster than the OEM i1Display Pro as the comparison obviously isn't correct. Unfortunately SpectraCal's comparison table on their site would let you believe that the C6 is faster then the stock i1 Display Pro (since they sell both) but that is misleading/incorrect as there is a trade-off between speed and repeatability at low light levels, so the extra speed isn't generally used. The only differences in speed will come from how the meter is supported in the software as the software can choose to slow things down to enhance repeatability. Neither is faster than the OEM or retail i1 Display Pro since they are in fact the same hardware. When the i1Display Pro was first released the manufacturer (X-Rite) touted that it is up to 5x faster than their less expensive ColorMunki Display, so the same holds true for all versions, including the C6 and ChromaPure Display 3 PRO. 1/4/2024 0 Comments Dwerve switchThere are plenty of challenges in Dwerve, but figuring out who the antagonist is isn’t one of them. Dwarves are too slow to fight hordes of enemies, so they need to work with tools to outsmart and out-tech their enemies. So he teaches him about the ancient craft of the warsmiths. His grandfather, on the contrary, realizes that Dwerve probably will continue to sneak out to find traces of his mom. After he barely survives the onslaught of vicious wolves and bees in those dangerous woods, his father tells him he shouldn’t go out into the woods ever again. In search of his mother, the journey starts with Dwerve exploring a dangerous forest, where she was last seen. His life is mostly calm and simple, although danger and evil are never far away. However, the dark past continues to linger – as dark pasts tend to do.Īgainst this background, we pick up the story with the title character, Dwerve himself. From here on, they turned from mountainous craftspeople into rural warring and raiding tribes. So they fled their mountain homes and settled in sunnier lands. The dwarves realized that the trolls couldn’t bear sunlight, as it turned them to stone. Instead of encountering what they looked for, they uncovered an army of trolls and monsters, who waged terror on them. Over time, the dwarfs dug deeper in search of more power stones. They were digging a hole – as dwarves do – where they came across mighty power stones, with which they powered their war machinery and even their cities. Once upon a time, in a hollow mountain, the dwarfs were a prosperous society. The game that actively rewards fighting dirty.ĭwerve is available on PC for $18,02 USD.ģ) Audio and Graphics: Cute and appealing, despite the bloodshed Story: It was a bright and quiet day… until it wasn’t. So come with me as I walk you through the wonderous, colorful, and fascinating world of Dwerve. It’s all one would expect from playing or watching the demo – and far beyond it, too.ĭwerve does more than ask, “What would a mix between dungeon crawling and tower defense be like?” Thanks to engaging and creative gameplay mechanics, Half Human Games ‘ very first game also owns the genre. Thankfully, the additional time Half Human Games invested in Dwerve showed while playing for review. Although it was originally set for release in 2021, the game just wasn’t ready yet – and the developers didn’t want to release it during the holiday season. However, it would take nearly two more years for the complete experience to be playable on Steam. The demo proved to be a sneak peek of the game’s engaging and dynamic tower defense gameplay. Dwerve is available now on Steam, with a fifteen percent discount until June 7, so check it out if fresh dungeon crawlers are your thing.Way back in 2020, the indie game Dwerve already made a name for itself by giving its emerging fanbase a little taste of what to expect. And after searching a ton of dungeons and facing down huge batches of monster and massive bosses with the help of your trusty engineering skills and a few artifacts you find along the way, you may indeed be able to help our little dwarf become an epic hero along the way. The game sees you playing as a young dwarf tinkerer, heading out into a ruined kingdom in order to find lost secrets of the warsmiths, giving them the skills needed to build and upgrade a large variety of traps in order to help stop the evil Witch-King Vandra from conquering the surface. It’s a clever hybrid that seemed to have the makings of a potential hit, and we’ll see if that’s the case today, as Dwerve is now available on Steam to check out, complete with a new launch trailer that you can check out below. It’s unique pitch as a “tower defense dungeon crawler” caught the eyes of several folk, as our hero builds a wide variety of traps in order to take out swarms of incoming monsters. Among those was Dwerve from developers Half Human Games, part of the selections for the curated PAX Rising Showcase. While PAX East 2022 was a more relatively low-key event this year, it still had several impressive games on display. Sadly, these are just small parts of a title that throws in different concepts without giving them good structures. I enjoyed one stage where you had to figure out how to become the weather reporter through subtle hints and another one for being a tribute to Breakout where all of your powers came in handy. It is a shame that the levels can be severely dull and forgettable, as there are some decent ideas sprinkled around. There are constantly imaginative concepts being introduced, but what you have to do is always obvious and feels more like fetch-quests. Sure, you will go on stealth missions, raise an army of the dead, and make awesome slopes for kids to slide on, but these are effortlessly done. This also comes from the lack of creativity in the level’s designs. There are some minor puzzles irregularly introduced, but I always found them too easy to accomplish, especially when the game blatantly tells you what to do. The playthrough is made even worse by how insultingly easy the objectives are to accomplish, with nothing testing your skills in gameplay or logical thinking. This inconsistency makes this title feel all over the place, which is especially strange when you get more powers to use, but the levels vary heavily in whether they require you to use them all or barely one. Areas are always different with what they require for you in order to proceed, with some having multiple objectives you need to do and later ones just requiring you to stand still for a long time or take barely 20 seconds to finish. A main one, is really the uneven structure of the stages. This should have provided possibilities for creating interesting levels, but there are tons of problems that hold this game back. Later on, you will even get powers like lightning for attacking anything beneath you and creating fire or snow for making the ground slippery and trap humans in. This does open up for some creative puzzles, like absorbing oil in order to make a trail for fire to travel on or suck in coffee to fill up people’s mugs. They have a water meter that drains as you tinkle, and can regain liquid by floating over areas of evaporation. You control a small cloud that starts off with only the ability to rain on people and objects. Rain on Your Parade can best be described as a mission-based puzzle-title, with both optional and mandatory tasks to take upon, with the latter being how you proceed to the next stage. Kinda like when I make bad puns due to no comedic skills. I do applaud the attempt at being entertaining through its parodies, but nothing feels well thought out. Combine this with strange dialogues, like the clouds calling humans “hoomans” (which is a term used by dogs/cats), it generally feels like this title wants to be funny by throwing in references everywhere. Unfortunately, nothing leaves an impact due to how poorly implemented these events are and end as soon as they appear. Everything happens out of nowhere, because this game wants to be silly. Suddenly you have to help grandma with her grocery shopping, suddenly there is a villain present, and suddenly zombies are attacking a city. This forced inclusion of references comes off as a compensation for the random events occurring. There is even a purple cloud colour, since this game needed to include a pun from a song by Prince and The Revolution. This is a mix I am not sure I follow, as all of them seem randomly thrown in, but by people who clearly are fans of these titles. However, it goes even beyond referencing games and also has stages based on shows like South Park and The Office, which are weirdly well done. This game has a huge focus on parodying familiar titles, such as Frogger, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario, and even Silent Hill. Unfortunately, this is not done through strong forms of creativity. An improvised story by the father, and this in a sense also reflects the entire game’s style and setup where things suddenly happen out of nowhere. Have you ever been forced to tell a bedtime story? I have and so has the father of this introduction, who creates a tale on the spot for his child about a cloud who wants to find the mystical, fabled, and legendary Seattle, where they can rain on anything they want to at any time. Which sadly happened to Rain on Your Parade. Unfortunately, since nothing is carefully prepared, it can also leave a strange taste in your mouth that you might not want to experience again or find difficult to recommend. Through combining parodies, gimmicks or even different genres together, it is always intriguing to see what you end up with when mixing different concepts. There is a beauty in not caring about limitations of ideas, throw every single one presented into a blender, and see what the end result will be. Games like today’s topic are truly hard to put into words. 1/4/2024 0 Comments Mediawiki create new pageThis is because the entire point of a wiki is for it to link internally as a detailed knowledgebase of the subject.Įxternal links should only be used as supporting evidence or where necessary. Doing so will actually create a page for that term. The third method you should use to create a MediaWiki page is to create an internal link. It can be a useful reminder to fill it later on. Don’t be afraid to create a page and leave it blank for now. This method is ideal for filling out your wiki based on what it does not have. Click on the «Save Page» button when you are done. You will now be able to create a page for that search term. In this case, I searched for Geralt, so I will click on Geralt. Click on the «example» to create the page. In the search box, search for the page you wish to create.Īs long as the page does not exist already, you should see a « Create the page «example» on this wiki!» message. This may sound counter-intuitive, but I assure you it makes perfect sense once you get started. This method involves searching for a page that doesn’t exist and using the prompt to create such a page. As such, this will not be a popular method, but it is worth mentioning for fresh installs.įor all future MediaWiki page additions, you will use the following methods. You will never see the «Create» option again unless you delete a page. This is how you can create the main page of your wiki at the start. Here you will find yourself on the MediaWiki create page area, where you can enter all of the information you want. Whenever you delete a page, you will have the «Create» option appear. Upon doing so, the page will be deleted and you will see an Action Complete page. You can add a reason if you like, but it is not necessary. Upon doing so, you will be asked why you are deleting the page. To delete the dummy page, click on More and select the «Delete» option. The first is to delete the dummy main page and create a new one or to simply edit the page itself. This is the method you will use upon installing MediaWiki because you won’t have any pages, with the exception of the «you have successfully installed MediaWiki» page. Understanding the different methods for creating MediaWiki pages will speed up the creation process significantly. Similar to the second method, this is a great way to fill out your wiki with more pages. Upon doing so, a page will automatically be created for that specific word. The third method is to create an internal link. So for example, if you searched for Geralt and didn’t turn up a page, you can immediately make one for him. This method is great for filling your wiki with lots of content or find where your wiki is lacking in said content.Ĭontinuing with our Witcher example, you would want a page dedicated to just about every single character across the series. Upon doing so, you will be prompted to create such a page. The second method is to search for a page that does not exist. It will usually be the page with the most traffic as well. The main page will lead visitors to a lot of the other wiki pages on more individual characters or events. This method will most likely only be used upon installing MediaWiki for the first time to create the main page.įor example, if you wanted to make a Witcher wiki page, you would want to start off with a basic description of the plot, important characters, media forms, reception, etc. This includes logging into your MediaWiki website and creating the page. The first method is the traditional way that pages are created in other CMS platforms, but for MediaWiki, it’s usually a rare event. It is important to understand that there are multiple ways to create a MediaWiki page. Today, I will demonstrate how to create a MediaWiki page using three methods. This means that just about anyone can do it. However, since there is a wiki page for just about everything nowadays, the process has been simplified considerably from the early days. MediaWiki works differently than other CMS because of the way it is used and this, of course, means that page creation is unique as well. Are you interested in creating your very own MediaWiki page? Luckily, doing so is a pretty simple task. |
